 The winning teams of the 2023 S.T. Yau High School Science Award (Asia) (YHSA (Asia)) performed brilliantly at the final competition in Beijing, winning a total of seven prizes. A team from Singapore won the interdisciplinary Grand Award and the Gold Prize in Mathematics. A team from India won the Silver Prize in Mathematics. Two teams from Hong Kong also obtained outstanding results; both won the Bronze Award in Biology. YEUNG Man Tsung, graduate of HK Pui Ching Middle School, 2019 YHSA(Asia) Silver Prize and YHSA Finale Bronze Award awardee in the subject category of Mathematics, shared his experience gained through the competition. To instill the idea and the fun of science research, this year YHSA(Asia) organised an online Science Talk for students, teachers as well as the general public through Zoom.

In the Talk, we tried to show our young talents a possible pathway for their pursuit of science. The talk attracted a total of 233 registrants from 13 regions/countries.

Students with outstanding performance in the subject category of Mathematics of YHSA(Asia) will receive strong recommendation for admission to the Mathematics Enrichment Programme (and/or Dual Degree Programme with Tsinghua University) of The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

With the recommendation of Professor Shing-Tung Yau, Luo On Ki of HK Pui Ching Middle School, 2020 YHSA(Asia) Gold Prize awardee in the subject category of Mathematics, has been accepted for the highly competitive 2021 Research Science Institute (RSI) programme collaboratively sponsored with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Each summer, 80 of the world's most accomplished high school students gather at MIT for RSI.  The heart of RSI is the five week research internship where students conduct individual projects under the tutelage of mentors who are experienced scientists and researchers.

The Department of Economics of The Chinese University of Hong Kong has listed the subject category of Economic and Financial Modeling of YHSA(Asia) as exceptional achievement that merits admission for the Bachelor of Social Science Programme in Economics. The Department also offers a Dual Degree Programme with Tsinghua University.
