YHSA(Asia) Prizes
Gold Prize
- Up to one (1) Gold Prize with a cash prize of USD 1,000 for each subject category.
- The Gold Prize winners, if any, will also receive a special award of their respective subject category:
- Shiing-Shen Chern High School Mathematics Gold Award* with a cash prize of USD 4,000.
- Charles K. Kao High School Physics Gold Award* with a cash prize of USD 4,000.
- Yuet-Wai Kan High School Biology Gold Award* with a cash prize of USD 4,000.
- Ching W. Tang High School Chemistry Gold Award* with a cash prize of USD 4,000.
- Harry Shum High School Computer Science Gold Award* with a cash prize of USD 4,000.
- Chin-Yin Chiu High School Economic and Financial Modeling Gold Award* with a cash prize of USD 4,000.
Silver Prize
- Silver Prize winners, if any, will receive a cash prize of USD 500 for each subject category.
- The Mathematics Silver Prize winners, if any, will also receive the Yeuk-Lam Leung High School Mathematics Silver Award* with a cash prize of USD 2,000.
Honourable Mention
Up to three (3) Honourable Mentions for each subject category.
Certificate of Participation
All other participants completing the oral defense of YHSA(Asia) will receive a Certificate of Participation.
Gold and Silver Prize winning teams of YHSA(Asia) will be eligible to compete with other regional finalists at YHSA Finale in Beijing.
For YHSA finale,
- Gold Prize: Up to one with a cash prize of RMB 50,000 for each subject category.
- Silver Prize: Up to one with a cash prize of RMB 30,000 for each subject category.
- Bronze Prize: Up to three with a cash prize of RMB 10,000 for each subject category.
- Honourable Mention: Up to five with a cash prize of RMB 5,000 for each subject category.
- Certificate of Participation: All other participants completing the oral defense of YHSA Finale will be awarded a Certificate of Participation.
- YHSA Finale Gold Prize winning teams of the 6 subject categories will compete for the Interdisciplinary Gold Prize with an additional cash prize of RMB 50,000.
Notes:
For the prizes of YHSA(Asia)/YHSA Finale, the Assessment Panels will make the corresponding recommendations after hearing all the oral defenses. The Panel may recommend fewer prizes to be awarded if the Panel considers it appropriate.
* Remarks:
- Shiing-Shen Chern High School Mathematics Gold Award is named in the memory of the renowned mathematician Shiing-Shen Chern, Wolf Prize Laureate in Mathematics 1983.
- Charles K. Kao High School Physics Gold Award is named in the memory of the renowned physicist Charles Kuen Kao, Nobel Laureate in Physics 2009.
- Yuet-Wai Kan High School Biology Gold Award is named after the renowned pioneer of human genetics Yuet-Wai Kan, Shaw Prize Laureate in Life Science and Medicine 2004.
- Ching W. Tang High School Chemistry Gold Award is named after the renowned physical chemist Ching W. Tang, inventor of OLED and Wolf Prize Laureate in Chemistry 2011.
- Harry Shum High School Computer Science Gold Award is named after Heung-Yeung Harry Shum, a distinguished computer scientist and a successful business leader.
- Chin-Yin Chiu High School Economic and Financial Modeling Gold Award is named in the memory of Chin-Yin Chiu, a famous scholar and educator in China and the beloved father of Shing-Tung Yau.
- Yeuk-Lam Leung High School Mathematics Silver Award is named in the memory of Yeuk-Lam Leung Chiu, the beloved mother of Shing-Tung Yau.
